Deadline schmedline! Looking for one more school?

This just in from Lawrence University:

Our Regular Decision application deadline came and went on January 15. After we sorted through the applications and supporting documents that have come in since then, we find ourselves in the position of being able to consider more applications to our college of liberal arts and sciences. (Our applicant pool for the Conservatory of Music is closed.)I’ll save you from having to read between the lines of the previous paragraph: unlike last year, when we were planning for a smaller class than our usual 365(ish), this year we are looking for a larger-than-usual class. The applicant pool for those seeking a BA degree from our college of liberal arts and sciences still has some room.
If you have applicants who haven’t yet found a college home and who might be a good academic fit for Lawrence University, please encourage them to send us an application by March 1 (although we will accept them all the way through March 15). Feel free to contact a member of the Lawrence Admissions Team for more information or have your students apply directly through the Common Application.
All the best,
Ken Anselment
Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid

Sweet Sixteen: Great Colleges of the South

A brand new college guide just arrived in my inbox and it looks like a good one! The title is Sweet Sixteen: Great Colleges of the South. It profiles the Associated Colleges of the South - a group of 16 small colleges and universities that (at least according to the author) are among the best undergraduate institutions of higher education in the country. A few of the colleges profiled are: Washington and Lee University, Centre College, Furman University, Rollins College, Sewanee:The University of the South, and Birmingham-Southern College. I'll report back once I've read the book and it will be available here in the College Counseling office to borrow or look over!
