College Counseling Weekly Update 10/28

LAST Help Session!

TODAY, Tuesday October 29th, the College Counselors will be in the computer lab during lunch for the last Common App/essay/other apps help session. Please come by if you have any last minute questions!

College Visits

To attend a college visit, please come get a pass from one of the college counselors. You will need to give the pass to your teacher at least one day before the visit in order to be excused. You do not need to sign up for the visit on Naviance- you must get a pass!

·         Tuesday, October 29^th

o   Bridgewater College- 8:50 a.m.

·         Wednesday, October 30^th

o   John Carroll University- 10:45 a.m.

o   Southern Methodist University- 12:30 p.m.

o   Vanderbilt University- 1:30 p.m. 

·         Thursday, October 31^st

o   Fairfield University- 11:45 a.m.

·         Friday, November 1^st

o   Radford University- 12:15 p.m.

The University of California College Fair

The University of California will be holding a College Fair on Tuesday, November 5^th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. in the Hanley Multi-Purpose Room at Georgetown Prep. Students will learn about the admissions process and undergraduate study opportunities at the University of California from our campuses. The following UC campuses are participating: UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UCLA, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz.  Students are encouraged to register at the link below: https://universityofcaliforniacollegenight.eventbrite.com –for the College Night for parents and students

·  Review the college visit list (new colleges are added daily!)

·  Keep track of your  college list

·  Review scattergrams and the Visi admissions history at the schools on your list

·  Review scholarship data

Review all the information we have about local information sessions, open houses, and special campus visit programs

Standardized Testing Dates and Deadlines

·         December 7 SAT and Subject Tests- Registration Deadline is November 8

·         December 14 ACT- Registration Deadline is November 8

Remember to put down Visitation’s school code, 090080, when you register for the SAT and ACT
